“”First Impressions: It’s Gem! Love it! (So far!)” “Been using a V2 beta paddle set last 3-weeks …Solid design! Tested in extreme cold temps no issues! Nice tight feel not mushy! No springs! Impressive! – Steve
- Consider alternative color other than black (Steve suggested RED)
- Consider oval screw-head to allow for user adjustment of the paddle spacing
- Consider making the top ‘cap’ or lid removable. I had epoxy fitted it. Would require some re-design but nothing too heavy
- In a few photos Steve had the key inserted what I would have called ‘upside down’, but was his way of using it correctly. This raises the paddles up above the knobs and is an interesting idea. (photo below)

Here’s Steve’s paddle in an inverted installation. I’m re-thinking how the key mates with the radio so the kit building OM can run it inverted or not as a preference for their build.

“As for the design itself, I really do like it. The size and weight are great. If I had any criticism at all, it would be that I wish it sat just a bit closer to the radio—more like the stock KH1 key, which doesn’t protrude very far. I find having my hand closer to the radio a bit more convenient in the field. That said, I’m not sure how easily that could be changed with this design. Otherwise, I think it’s a very cool key, and I can definitely see where you’ve borrowed some of the mechanics from the TP-III paddle.” “I gave the key a try recently in a little hunting session and it worked perfectly. “
